i am in a women's bible study group with 4 other women and it has been such a wonderful experience. we have all clicked in such a great and comfortable way. i am so grateful for this in my life right now.
we were able to plan a 'somewhat last minute 2-night spring break getaway' (that's the title i am giving it i guess) :). the ladies packed food, gear, and children (13 children to be exact, all 6 years old and younger. oh, plus a few pregnant bellies) and headed to a cabin in elk, wa. a family friend of ours was gracious enough to let us use their cabin for 2 nights. it is a beautiful place and we are so grateful.
the kids played hard while we all snuck conversations in here and there. there is something wonderful about hanging out with families that are in the same phase of life. the craziness of young children playing leads to unfinished conversations, a mother eyeing another mother and knowing what it means, meal time plate line-ups and production lines, and then the 1-2 hours of nap/quiet time and bedtime at night for the children while the mothers talk, read, and even sleep. i love how it all flows and is a controlled chaos. i also love the understanding between mothers when one falls asleep or sits in a corner to read and nobody is offended by you being unsocial....that behavior is encouraged.
most of the husbands were able to head up after work on friday and join us for the last night. it was a sigh of relief for us moms to have another pair of eyes and legs to get up and help our children. we all played a game and chatted by the fire after the kids were put to bed. on the last day we had an early easter egg hunt for all the kids, which they truly enjoyed.
it was fun had by all and i feel so blessed to have spent this time with friends and family.
